Der Kampfmittelspezialist oder auch EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) ist der Experte rund um Kampfmittel (Sprengstoffe). Wenn ein Trupp feindliche Kampfmittel, z.B. in Form einer IED (Improvised Explosive Device), entdeckt, dann ist es die Aufgabe des EODs, die zu entschärfen, welche ein hohes Risiko mit sich bringt.
Neben dieser Aufgabe ist er dazu befugt, Kampfmittel einzusetzen. Dafür verfügt er über eine große Auswahl an Sprengstoffen.
